THE RESTORED LEADER: Because You Cannot Pour From Empty
For educators, therapists, coaches, wellness practitioners, physicians, caregivers, or simply the person everyone leans on at work and at home.
Time & Location
Aug 19, 2026, 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM EDT
A Virtual Event on Zoom
About the event
You have been the person everyone counts on for so long you have forgotten what it feels like to just be a person.
You keep everything and everyone organized so nothing slips through the cracks, and you notice what everyone needs before they ask. You show up prepared, present, and steady at work, at home, and in every room you walk into.
And somewhere between all of that, you stopped making it onto your own list.
You give yourself permission to rest and your mind hands you a list instead. You lie in bed wanting to sleep, but your mind is already three conversations ahead.
You've been doing all the "right" things and still can't seem to settle at the end of the night.
It takes two days of vacation to finally feel relaxed.
Your nervous system learned that in order for you to stay safe and connected, you needed to be alert, pay attention to your surroundings, to anticipate, and to hold everything together for everyone else.
So unless something shifts at the level where the pattern actually lives in your body, the cycles continue.
Your body doesn't respond to more information, better discipline, or the right practice at the right time of day.
It changes when your body finally gets the signal that it's allowed to stop.
This event is 90 minutes to finally understand what has actually been happening beneath the surface and why nothing you have tried has fully reached it.
WHO THIS IS FOR
Educators, therapists, coaches, wellness practitioners, physicians, caregivers, or simply the person everyone leans on at work and at home.
You spend your days showing up for other people and your body hasn’t learned how to receive that same quality of presence for yourself. You get to the end of the week still running, still absorbing, still catching up to yourself.
You know what you need but your body won't let you access it when the pressure is on.
This is for self-aware professionals who know that something needs to shift before the next hard season arrives.
During this event we explore two of the most common patterns I see in the people I work with. You may recognize yourself in one of them or in both.
WHAT HAS BEEN RUNNING BENEATH THE SURFACE
When you are always the one holding it together:
Think back to last weekend. The errands, the meal prep, the getting a head start on Monday. If you are honest, there were things on that list you wished were not there. But you did them anyway.
The clients who sit with me describe it this way:
I'm doing a lot of things but not doing any of them well. It’s like I'm on the sidelines of my own life. I’m making things happen, getting things done, fitting in social time, but it’s all compartmentalized.
You are doing things you genuinely want to be doing and somehow still ending the day feeling like you were never quite there for any of it.
This served a real purpose in your life. It kept you safe, included, and relied upon. It helped you be seen as the good, responsible kid. It kept you on the invite list as a teen and in the role of the leader everyone loves as an adult. This pattern has been running on autopilot ever since, showing up in every role, every relationship, every season of life that came after.
This same pattern that kept you holding it all together is often the same one that won't let you put it down.
When your body refuses to let you rest:
There is always one more thing. A message to respond to, a task only you can handle, something that will be easier if you just take care of it now while it's fresh in your mind.
You take the day off intending to rest, but your mind is busy and your body can’t settle.
This is what I hear repeatedly:
I feel guilty doing nothing. I can't relax until everything is done. I feel so lazy if I stop when things aren't finished.
The trying is real. Weekend retreats, meditation apps, weekly yoga classes. Something shifts for a little while and then you're right back where you started.
What makes this particularly hard is that you probably already know this. You could explain the importance of rest to someone else right now. And still, the cycle repeats.
That is not a failure of the practices. That is what happens when the body has been in motion for so long that stillness starts to feel like a threat.
This event is an opportunity to give your body a different experience, not more information about why nervous system regulation and rest matter, but a direct felt sense of what it actually feels like to arrive there. You'll begin to notice your specific patterns and how they show up in your life.

INSIDE THE EXPERIENCE
This is 90 minutes where the only topic on the agenda is you.
You will have time to reflect, move, allow your body to rest, and connect with others who have full, demanding lives and are ready to start doing things differently.
You will notice which pattern is showing up strongest for you right now. During the practice, you will be guided to work with it directly so your body can feel what it is like when it's no longer bracing, trying to hold everything together.
I will guide you through gentle movement to release whatever you are still carrying from the day. You can do this seated and move in whatever way feels right. No yoga mat needed.
From there we move into breathwork and a guided meditation with Reiki. No prior experience with any of these practices is required. Just come ready to rest and receive whatever your body needs.
Some people fall asleep. Some people cry. Some people notice where their body is holding tension or discomfort. All of it is welcome.
How to prepare/what to bring:
a blanket, a pillow for your head and one for under your knees, water, a journal, wear comfortable layers, and a space where you can fully relax for 90 minutes without interruption.
WHAT YOU WALK AWAY WITH
You leave having felt your shoulders drop. Your jaw unclench. Your breath flowing with more ease.
Before the event you will receive an Energy and Well-being Self-Assessment and you will compare how you feel before and after. This self-assessment is an opportunity for you to check in and bring awareness to your body before the evening begins. It gives your body a chance to begin arriving before the evening even starts.
Many people notice their sleep is deeper that night. Some notice they move through the next few days a little differently-- less reactive, less braced, more present than usual.
You will leave knowing which pattern has been running the show and having felt, in your own body, that something else is possible.

QUESTIONS
Do I need experience with these practices? No. Everything is guided and explained in plain language. Whether you are new to this or have been exploring it for years, you will be supported.
Do I need to be on camera? Camera is optional. Participate however feels comfortable.
I already teach nervous system regulation. Is this still relevant? Yes. There is often a gap between knowing the information and living it. You can explain polyvagal theory to a client while your own body is braced. This event is an opportunity to receive the same care and support you give to others.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is a gentle energy-based practice originating in Japan. It supports the body in releasing tension and settling into a deeper state of rest. You do not need any prior experience or belief in it for it to be effective. Learn more here: https://www.kimbrooksyoga-wellness.com/post/virtual-reiki
What if I cannot attend live? The replay will be available for lifetime access. That said, the practice, the breakout rooms, and the real-time energy of the room will not fully translate to the recording. Attend live if you can.
ABOUT KIM
Kim Brooks is a Self-Leadership coach, Karuna Reiki Master, yoga teacher, and the creator of the Self-Leadership Method.
After 18 years as an elementary educator, Kim experienced firsthand what happens when years of high-functioning capability come at a cost the body eventually cannot ignore. She spent years managing Fibromyalgia and chronic pain while appearing calm and capable to everyone around her.
She knew what she needed and had spent years learning about stress management, emotional regulation, and mindfulness to use for herself and her students. Knowing and accessing are two completely different things.
Through her training in nervous system work, somatic practices, Reiki, yoga, meditation and breathwork, Kim discovered what it takes to shift the pattern at the level where it actually lives, in the body, not just the mind.
