Permission to Receive: A Heart-Centered Reiki Journey
A small group experience where you are the one being cared for. Ninety minutes of rest, breath, and a guided Reiki meditation experience, a nurturing pause created to help you practice receiving before the season of giving begins.
Time & Location
Nov 01, 2026, 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM
House of Verra, 116 Broad St Unit 3, Berlin, MD 21811, USA
About the event
Most of us know how to give. We show up for the people who need us, keep things running, make sure everyone is comfortable.
We have learned how to create inviting spaces, to set a table, to give a gift for special occasions, to organize a room, and make sure appointments are scheduled and remembered.
Receiving is the part that rarely gets practiced, whether that's accepting a compliment, allowing yourself a moment of rest, or simply letting someone else take care of things for a while.
This evening isn't about managing anything better. It's ninety minutes to set it all down and simply be cared for, rather than to be the one doing the caring.

8 spots for an intimate gathering
What to Expect:
We'll start with introductions and a few minutes to settle into the room together, followed by open conversation about what giving and receiving actually feels like in your own life.
From there, you'll be guided through gentle movement, breathwork, and a Reiki meditation. Reiki is a light-touch energy practice, and each person chooses whether to receive it hands-on or hands-near, whichever feels most comfortable to you.
The heart chakra, Anahata, is at the center of our chakra system, where giving and receiving meet. As we work with the heart center together, you'll have space to cultivate gratitude and love for yourself.
We'll close together, reflecting on what surfaced and writing your own intentions for the season ahead, along with a simple ritual you can return to at home.
No prior experience with Reiki or any other practice is needed. Just come with an open heart, ready to receive.
What to bring:
All props (mats, bolsters, blankets) are provided.
You can bring your own mat, pillow, or blankets if you have a favorite you'd rather use.
Bring a water bottle, a journal/pen, and anything else that makes you feel comfortable, an eye mask, cozy socks, and warm layers.
Who This Is For:
This evening is for anyone who tends to give more easily than they receive, whatever that looks like in your own life: a business or passion project you've built and pour yourself into, a family that leans on you, a retirement that somehow still keeps you busier than ever, or simply putting others first more often than you'd like.
This is for anyone wanting to open their heart, spend some time in stillness, and connect with others who are also looking for a quiet moment of introspection and peace.
Meet Kim:
Kim Brooks is a Self-Leadership coach and Reiki master based in Maryland, and the creator of the Self-Leadership Method. She's a Holy Fire III Karuna Reiki Master, certified yoga teacher, and breathwork facilitator. Before this work, she spent 18 years as an international educator, teaching and leading in classrooms across the United States, Morocco, and Taiwan.
Kim's own Reiki practice began with the heart chakra, the area where so many people first notice how much they're holding without even realizing it. She's seen it happen again and again with clients, something softens that they didn't even know they were holding on to, their breath flows easier, their shoulders drop, and a sense of peace and love washes over them. That's what you'll be guided through on Nov 1.
