About the event

For service-oriented individuals ready to stop managing themselves through pressure and start leading from clarity and internal steadiness.

So you can:

  • Carry significant responsibility without your nervous system paying the price…and feel at ease while doing work that matters.

  • Lead others from a regulated foundation…and embody the steadiness you offer everyone else.

  • Lead your life from choice and clarity…not being led by your nervous system's survival programming.

What This Workshop Is About

You spend your days leading others…but who's leading you?

You hold space for students, clients, or teams who need you calm, steady, and present.

You're the one who stays regulated when they're dysregulated. You're the steady presence in the room. You're highly capable…and you do this work well.

But here's what's happening underneath:

Your nervous system learned that constant readiness is what keeps you effective and reliable.

So even after you leave work - even when you're home with your family - your body won't settle.

Your thoughts still race. Your chest stays tight. You're still braced.

This isn't a time management problem. This isn't a boundary problem.

This is a self-leadership problem.

Right now, your nervous system is leading you…deciding when you're braced, when you can settle, when you're "on" or "off."

The Leader Within is a live, 75-minute workshop that teaches you how to lead yourself, so you're guiding your nervous system instead of being guided by it.

The Real Problem

Why Care-Focused Professionals (Educators, Therapists, Coaches) End Up Running on Survival Mode

Your work requires you to regulate everyone else's emotions—the anxious student, the overwhelmed client, the stressed team member.

You stay calm when they're dysregulated. You hold space when they're falling apart. You make dozens of micro-decisions every day that affect other people's wellbeing.

And your nervous system learned: staying alert, anticipating needs, and being ready for anything is what keeps you effective, valued, and reliable.

So it stays "on," scanning, preparing, monitoring, even when nothing urgent is happening.

Even when you're driving home. Even when you're sitting with your family. Even when you're trying to rest.

This is the "Functional Robot" pattern:

Capable and composed on the outside. Running on a stress response on the inside.

You function well, but you never feel at ease.

And no amount of self-care, boundary-setting, or time management will shift this pattern until you work with what's creating it: your nervous system.

But here's what makes this a self-leadership issue:

You can't lead a classroom, manage a caseload, or hold space for a team if you're being led by your nervous system's survival programming.

Self-leadership starts with regulation.

When you learn to guide your nervous system instead of being guided by it, everything else becomes possible.

What This Workshop Does

The Leader Within teaches you the foundation of self-leadership: how to lead your nervous system instead of being led by it.

Most professional development on wellness gives you more strategies to manage stress.

This workshop shows you how to shift from managing to leading…so your nervous system settles on its own, and you're not spending all your energy bringing yourself back to calm.

This is not a motivational talk. This is a grounded, embodied workshop that combines nervous system science with somatic practice.

In 75 minutes, you'll learn:

Why overfunctioning in your role is a learned stress response—not a sign you care too much or a leadership flaw

How constant emotional regulation of others creates patterns in your own nervous system—and why your body stays activated long after the school day or session ends

How to recognize the "Functional Robot" state—the moment your system shifts into survival mode, before it takes over your whole day (or evening at home)

The shift from managing yourself to leading yourself—and what self-leadership actually looks like when you're holding space for students, clients, or teams

A live somatic grounding practice—to restore internal steadiness in real time (not as a concept, but as a felt shift you can return to between classes, between sessions, or in your car)

The Self-Leadership Method—an introduction to the four phases that shift this pattern at its root: Release, Rewire, Reclaim, Restore

You'll leave with:

  • Clarity on what's driving the pattern (and why it's not your fault)

  • Language to name what you've been experiencing

  • Embodied practice you can use in the moments you need it most

  • A framework for leading yourself from regulation, not survival

This Workshop Is For You If:

You're an educator, therapist, mentor, or service-oriented leader whose work requires constant emotional presence

You spend your days regulating others' emotions and notice your body won't settle even after work ends

You're the steady, reliable presence everyone depends on, but internally, you're running on a stress response that won't turn off

You transition constantly between professional composure and personal life and your nervous system hasn't learned how to make that shift

You walk through the door at home and your family needs you, but your body is still in work mode, still braced, still scanning

You're highly competent but internally exhausted, but you can't show the strain because others rely on you

You're ready to stop managing yourself and start leading yourself... from a regulated nervous system, not survival mode.

Why This Matters Now

Self-leadership doesn't begin with mindset or discipline. It begins with regulation.

You can have all the strategies in the world…classroom management techniques, therapeutic interventions, leadership frameworks.

But if your nervous system is running on survival mode, you'll approach even the best strategies from pressure, urgency, and depletion.

When you learn to lead your nervous system, everything else shifts:

You make clearer decisions…without the mental spiraling and second-guessing.

You hold steadier boundaries…because your body trusts them instead of overriding them.

You're present in the moments that matter…with your students, your clients, your family.

You transition from work to home without carrying the day in your body.

You do meaningful work without sacrificing yourself to do it.

The Leader Within shows you how to build that foundation.

Not through more effort. Not through more strategies. Through regulation and self-leadership.

This is a 75-minute investment that could change how you lead yourself - and how you show up in your work - for years to come.

About Your Guide

Kim Brooks supports Care-Focused Professionals (Educators, Therapists, Coaches) in moving from chronic stress to embodied self-leadership through nervous system regulation and somatic practice.

After 18 years as an elementary educator, Kim experienced firsthand what happens when high-functioning capability is built on an unsustainable nervous system foundation. She spent years managing chronic shoulder tension, racing thoughts, and a jaw so tight she could see it in her reflection, all while appearing calm and capable to everyone around her.

Through nervous system work, somatic practices, Reiki, and breathwork, she shifted from chronic pain and burnout to regulated steadiness. She left teaching to support other women in doing the same, particularly those in roles that require constant emotional regulation of others.

Kim's work blends nervous system science with somatic and energetic practices. She holds certifications in Reiki, breathwork, meditation, and yoga, and supports women in interrupting survival patterns and reclaiming their capacity to lead from steadiness.

Her approach is grounded, peer-to-peer, and focused on what actually works, not what sounds good.

She understands the specific pressures of holding space for others professionally... because she lived it for nearly two decades.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need any previous experience with nervous system work or somatic practices?

No. This workshop is designed to be accessible whether you're new to this work or have been exploring it for years. I'll explain everything in plain language and guide you through the practice step by step.

Will I need to be on camera?

Camera is optional. You're welcome to participate in whatever way feels comfortable. The somatic practice doesn't require you to be seen.

What if I can't attend live?

The replay will be sent within 48 hours. However, the live experience includes real-time practice and Q&A that won't fully translate to the recording. If you can attend live, I recommend it.

What should I have ready for the workshop?

A quiet space where you can be present without distractions, water, and a journal if you'd like to take notes. We'll do a brief somatic practice, so comfortable seating and room to stand if you choose will be helpful.

Is this workshop only for women and educators?

No. While I work primarily with women, educators and care-focused professionals (therapists, mentors, counselors, social workers, nonprofit leaders, service-oriented professionals), this workshop is for anyone whose work requires constant emotional presence and regulation of others and who functions well externally but feels overextended internally.

I teach clients about nervous system regulation—is this still relevant for me?

Yes. Many therapists, counselors, and somatic practitioners attend this workshop because there's a gap between knowing about nervous system regulation and living it. You can explain polyvagal theory to a client while your own body is braced. This workshop helps you close that gap, so you can embody what you teach.

What happens after the workshop?

After the workshop, you'll have the option to explore deeper work through Path to Freedom— my three-month 1:1 program for nervous system regulation and embodied self-leadership. But there's no pressure or sales pitch. This workshop stands on its own and gives you valuable tools regardless of what you do next.
